Community Call #1: Sexual Harassment

Our first community call was on Sexual Harassment, we decided to ally with the Be Confident organization, led by an exceptional high school student, Heidi! To learn more about the Be Confident organization, its main goal is to spread positivity and love to others who struggle with self-confidence! They were a key role in making this community call a success! The real reason why we made our first call surrounding Sexual Harassment was because of as an organization our mission is to empower young girls in our community with the essential skills to be successful in their careers.

During the call, the focal point was what sexual harassment really is, and its’ effects, as well as different coping mechanisms. We are tremendously thankful to Jacquelyn Dygert, who was our guest speaker, she is a graduate in HR management and in SHRM-CP. She shared her insightful experience in the HR workforce regarding sexual harassment as a professional. Continuing, that we had an open circle session where attendees were given the opportunity to share their thoughts, experiences, and ask questions.

Though, it was our first community call we had a surplus of attendees from multiple different states and countries! Overall, we were exceedingly ecstatic to have fostered an environment where girls felt comfortable enough to openly discuss their feelings about this topic, as it is a goal for us to normalize this uneasy topic in society today.
